Justin Martin and Dirtybird fly the coup
*The Week that Was
As we all expected, Justin Martin was the highlight of the week and the weekend. As I Saw It: His Sunday performance at the Standard was quite stellar, as the musical madman rode in atop his magical steed, with a dirtybird clinging to his shoulder for dear life. The poor creature appeared to have been beaten within an inch of his life on the devious duo's descension from the heavens. Shortly after the horse landed with a mighty shake of the entire 19-floor hotel and the winds settled down, I noticed the bird looked like a cross between a poorly-drawn pirate's parrot styled after the original Steamboat Willie cartoons and the two dancing crow mascots/representations of the The Black Crowes, found abundantly on their merchandise.
After he stepped up to the DJ booth, the sky behind Justin was engulfed in ephemeral flashes of light, which danced across the sky, emanating back toward their astral beginnings. The wisps of bright energy crossed my eyes, then, as I stared, the vision burned my retinas; just as like they warn will happen if you stare at the sun. From that moment on, I have been blind. I'm now blinded by the light which is J.M. Of course, being the dance floor veteran I am, I danced with no end in sight; all the while, I was dancing with no sight. Justin noticed my sudden state without vision..... He noticed (I know because a friend told me) and he just kept spinning, as if this type of incident happens all the time at his shows (and it probably does). Yes, he just kept spinning like his hair was on fire. Which, according to my senses, he sure as hell was on fire all day. Thank You Once Again, Justin Martin!
(Since the incident, I have started seeing some bright lights, with no outlines or details yet. The doctors feel this is normal for the J.M. syndrome and expect me to make a full recovery. Thanks for the flowers and cards!)
Now here we are, trying to nestle back into our cozy little cubbyholes and cubicles we call everyday life. We just want to be able do the little things that make life so worthwhile, like SEE! Hopefully, this event at Mi6 tonight will help, cause that's all I've got right now; Enjoy!
*Items of Note
~This week's 'kicker' is Sifu Anthony Arnett, one of the greatest martial artists I've ever met. No doubt about it, he is one helluva scary person to spar with and I had the pleasure to do just that, after almost every class, sometimes 2-4 times a week....
~The car.... what needs to be said about THAT car? It's a Mercedes, I believe 600 series.... That thing is amazing.... it was a loaner from a buddy's co-worker (I don't know what that guy was thinking). But let's just say that I enjoyed every second in that car. That one certainly turns some heads ;-)
We'll SEE you next time when I can SEE better and therefore, write better, as well!.....
Until then, thanks for taking the time out to see us and
thanks so much for Kickin' it with Kung Fu Kev!
