What's New These Days....

What is L.A. to you?

To me, she is great and twisted; showing me horrors that I long after while alluding a life of the walking dead...

I am glad to report, I severed some of the tentacles that had hold of me since I left.
.That took way too long.

Kickin' It With Kung Fu Kev at Adobe Max 2010, Photo Edition 2

Where to go Kick it with Kung Fu Kev for Labor Day Weekend

Me and Ren @Ecco for A. Caldwell
Welcome back ya'll
Happy weekend of celebrations and Kickin' it with Kung Fu Kev

Labor Day is a day set aside to celebrate the economic and social achievements of workers throughout the year. If you have had a good year of working, this would be the designated day for toasting those accomplishments. If you do not fall into this category; i.e., if you did not have a good year of working (and many of us did not) - I still grant you, by the power vested in me, the ability to designate this day for celebrating. Hell, I'm going to grant you all weekend long for celebrating and throw in Monday as well, for a spot of recovery (As if you needed an excuse to get down this weekend!).

Anyway, while I'm granting such privileges, I might as well grant the privileges of telling you some hot spots to go this weekend.

Saturday Night:

Sunday Day:

And then Monday Day:

That should keep you all busy for awhile. Now remember, this weekend is only supposed to be for those who experienced a year of work worth celebrating about. For the rest of you, the only reason you are allowed to participate in this year's festivities, is due to my kindness and generousity. So, take advantage! 'Cause I may not be feeling this good next year -

See you at the Standard for Justin Martin today!

Hello Gang,

Just a quick note, as you may have noticed, the page housing the photo contest submissions just took a nose dive into the digital abyss. Needless to say, I will be working to straighten this out, JUST NOT TODAY!

I'll see you guys on the dance floor, instead!

Congratulations to this week's winner of the photo contest: Karen S.!!!!!

One last post of the flyer. Should you have questions, email me or call me.

Living in L.A.'s 100th Post!!!

Hello, hello, hello.... I wanted to take a moment and interject a bit of knowledge in the middle of your busy day. First, it's good to have you back, as we have more information posted about Justin Martin; including: links to his sites and some demo mixes. Also, we have some photos up from the first submissions for the Photo Contest. While you still have time, send us your alterEgo Event Pics to be entered to win a free ticket!

That's all folks! I told you I just wanted to interject a bit.... Anyway, enjoy the rest of the site! Original beginning of the post:

The Week That Was

Last week was a 'hurry, hurry, hurry; just to wait, wait, wait' week for me, personally. This prevailing theme set the tone for me to miss one of the most anticipated events of the year, Timo Maas at Ecco Lounge in Hollywood. Of course, he was on the slate for last Saturday night. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I missed this one; and I have already strained my hamstring from repeatedly kicking myself. So, as far as The Week That Was, I've got nothin' for you...... not even an update as to how good the show was.

MUSIC: Droog's First downtown Standard rooftop party: Martin Buttrich

Here's Droog's first entry into the Standard pool party season; and it looks like it might make a splash..... None other than Martin Buttrich. The famed producer from Germany, especially known for his work with Loco Dice. Personally, he's one of my favorites when I'm listening at home. But, I hope he redeems himself for his latest show (Avalon 3/6) in L.A.; in which I feel he did not give his best effort.

With all the hi jinx happening, Sunday looks to be a dynamic day:
Just don't forget to save energy for the alterEgo special event at Ecco Sunday night. No worries; if you plan on attending the Standard event, there's just enough time to S.S.& S. (oh, and get some food!) after the Droog party and still get to Ecco for the night's big event!

Here's the Droog flyer:

Wind or shine, the show will go on with abandon. The time to kick off the shoes and dance the blues is nigh. Armed with two lethal weapons - Martin Buttrich and Konrad Black- our label is set to jump start its second full season of rooftop debauchery and a second year of releasing music. Hitch to our unruly wagon and let's have some serious fun.

The party begins at a usual 1pm time BUT will end earlier -7 pm. Please make your plans accordingly - our special guest will start right after 4pm. We are extending our $10 discount entry until 4pm.

AlterEgo Events Launches Egotistic: Sun 4/4 CHARLIE MAY on the Standard Rooftop (Nightlife)

There are few more inspired artists working in electronic music today than Charlie May. As the architect behind many of the stylistic blueprint shifts in dance since the early heady days of acid house, May knows a thing or two about what makes a dance floor tick. One half of revered progressive house pioneers Spooky; the engineer and producer of many of Sasha’s biggest singles and albums; highly respected solo producer in his own right, May has remained at the vivacious beating heart of house since the early ’90s, taking the pulse of the clubbing populace and ensuring it remains in rude health.

From his first steps into the world of dance music as a starry-eyed, inspired raver attending London’s legendary Brain club nights in Soho, to his current position as the go-to guy for breathtaking, sonically adventurous technoid future dance, this producer and DJ has consistently blazed a trail of innovation which has underpinned many of the most important developments in electronic music.
