So today, as part of my kung fu training, I was walking around the exterior track of Pan Pacific Park. Two gentlemen escorted a woman pushing a stroller on the sidewalk about ten feet from me. The woman noticed me as I was approaching, even though the track I was on began to curve away from the sidewalk.
She slowed the baby carrier to a stop and asked, "Excuse me, do you know where the art museum is?".
I asked which art museum she was referring to....
I haven't heard of the museum she asked about, so I responded with a polite rejection. She smiled back.
Later, while I was walking to my car and slowing my pace upon approach, I sensed a vehicle drive up behind me. It crept up on my blind side, and with brakes squeaking, came to a halt right next to me. The driver leaned over the vacant passenger seat to get closer to me. She asked where the closest library is.... I again had to respond in the negative, as I live in a different area than this, and I've got nothing to offer about the geographical plottings of this section of town.
I have never been asked for directions in this town by anyone who doesn't know me. Until today; until these two episodes.
Now, you can gleem what you want from this coincidence. Here's my take:
1) Do I really look like I'm from L.A. now? Was it the Dodgers shirt I had on, my post workout, 'I don't give a _____' stare, or just my natural demeanor that the assumed tourists were picking up on? No idea.
2) I need to get to know this city better, especially the areas in which I teach at.
That's all for now ~

What is L.A. to you?
To me, she is great and twisted; showing me horrors that I long after while alluding a life of the walking dead...
I am glad to report, I severed some of the tentacles that had hold of me since I left.
.That took way too long.
