These are the notes I took during a phone call with a close friend and mentor. He wanted me to think about these things whenever I blog. I will certainly do that. However, when considering the advice, I believe the ideas he has suggested are helpful for all types of creation:
Be Direct.
Map out the story,
then build towards the end.
in your build up of the story,
keep advancing the reader.
as you make your way
through the story,
through the story,
take your readers with you;
help them walk beside you.
Do not alienate them;
Do not alienate them;
speak in their terms,
in their language....
Don't use local colloquialisms
with a foreign audience.
Write for your audience;
Who is your audience?
Know your audience.
Write as if they know nothing about your topic.
Write for your audience;
Who is your audience?
Know your audience.
Ernest Hemingway was direct and simple in his writing,
yet he said so much.....
-Well put, Phlip.
What about you, any thoughts?
Discussion helps everyone who reads this article.
If you are like me, I expect his advice speaks deeply
to any writers out there reading this.
Thank You, Phlip
