What's New These Days....
What is L.A. to you?
To me, she is great and twisted; showing me horrors that I long after while alluding a life of the walking dead...
I am glad to report, I severed some of the tentacles that had hold of me since I left.
.That took way too long.

Officialy, End Your Summer The Right Way

That's right! It's in the park,
so you can dance all day and all night,
and not wake up with sore ankles and knees!
(OK, that last part may be a bit of an exaggeration,
but we do expect any swelling to decrease by
tomorrow morning and eventually, go away entirely.)
(If the swelling persists, you may have one of a slew of ailments
linked to swollen joints, and none of them are good;
so get your butt to the clinic and get that checked out!)

See you at the Standard for Justin Martin today!
Hello Gang,
Just a quick note, as you may have noticed, the page housing the photo contest submissions just took a nose dive into the digital abyss. Needless to say, I will be working to straighten this out, JUST NOT TODAY!
I'll see you guys on the dance floor, instead!
Congratulations to this week's winner of the photo contest: Karen S.!!!!!
One last post of the flyer. Should you have questions, email me or call me.

Living in L.A.'s 100th Post!!!
Hello, hello, hello.... I wanted to take a moment and interject a bit of knowledge in the middle of your busy day. First, it's good to have you back, as we have more information posted about Justin Martin; including: links to his sites and some demo mixes. Also, we have some photos up from the first submissions for the Photo Contest. While you still have time, send us your alterEgo Event Pics to be entered to win a free ticket!
That's all folks! I told you I just wanted to interject a bit.... Anyway, enjoy the rest of the site! Original beginning of the post:
The Week That Was
Last week was a 'hurry, hurry, hurry; just to wait, wait, wait' week for me, personally. This prevailing theme set the tone for me to miss one of the most anticipated events of the year, Timo Maas at Ecco Lounge in Hollywood. Of course, he was on the slate for last Saturday night. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I missed this one; and I have already strained my hamstring from repeatedly kicking myself. So, as far as The Week That Was, I've got nothin' for you...... not even an update as to how good the show was.

The Week That Was ~ The Week Ahead (Nightlife)
THE WEEK THAT WAS (April 19-25) Kickin' it with Kung Fu Kev
This week was slow for me, as I save energy, money, and ideas for the upcoming week, my birthday week. Also, I was helping a friend remodel her condo, and that took much of my gusto for going out. You can see pics of that by clicking kung fu carpentry. I attended King King on Friday for Behrouz and DJ Kam and I got to see just how funky the famed DJ can get (I missed DJ Kam as I was fashionable late). Behrouz broke it down, mixing in some far reaching new songs with some of the popular current tracks via a well-conceived, intelligent mix that put me in an all-night dance marathon.

AlterEgo Events Launches Egotistic: Sun 4/4 CHARLIE MAY on the Standard Rooftop (Nightlife)
There are few more inspired artists working in electronic music today than Charlie May. As the architect behind many of the stylistic blueprint shifts in dance since the early heady days of acid house, May knows a thing or two about what makes a dance floor tick. One half of revered progressive house pioneers Spooky; the engineer and producer of many of Sasha’s biggest singles and albums; highly respected solo producer in his own right, May has remained at the vivacious beating heart of house since the early ’90s, taking the pulse of the clubbing populace and ensuring it remains in rude health.
From his first steps into the world of dance music as a starry-eyed, inspired raver attending London’s legendary Brain club nights in Soho, to his current position as the go-to guy for breathtaking, sonically adventurous technoid future dance, this producer and DJ has consistently blazed a trail of innovation which has underpinned many of the most important developments in electronic music.

Also: A Pool Party Survival Guide....
Well, I just wanted to interject a bit..... The weather has started to comply nicely with all requests for a season change. Now, it's time to hit the gym, get a quick tan, and do whatever else you have to in order to look good in your bathing suit; 'cause this Sunday is another pool party atop the Standard downtown hotel! Although this still isn't the official start of the season, that date IS fast approaching (that's pool party season, NOT football season, for those of you needing clarification).

SPRING OFFICIALLY ARRIVES
So, the calendars say that spring arrives on March 20th, but as we approached that day, the general 'feel' in Los Angeles about the season change was blasé at best. The weather change was sluggish, as temperatures were climbing, but still not spring-like; the plants had no blooms or smells; birds were nowhere to be found; and the people were staying indoors and dressing like it was still winter. What to do, what to do?

Desyn Masiello, on the Standard rooftop, Sunday 3/21/10 (Nightlife)
Once described by John Digweed as “the man that never sleeps”, it is a testament to Desyn’s hard work and ability to unearth original and undiscovered threads in the tapestry of house

Before you die, Go See This Play! Or Else ~
Yes, yes; you read correctly....
This is a play that one of my students is performing in and the least you can do while in the L.A. area is go and show support, right? I thought so too!
Anyway, the play is Doctor Noguchi, the story who Thomas Noguchi's 15 years as the chief medical examiner for Los Angeles County, which earned him the sardonic nickname of "Coroner to the Stars."
This premise for this story is golden and definitely worth the cost of admission.
If you notify me, maybe we can go together. The link is an LA Weekly write up with a map, days and times, and link for purchasing tickets. Should you have any problems, contact me.
Break a leg, Jeremy!

Special Effects
This photo was taken at an after hours dubstep party. The party was free, for those who paid the $12-$20 at the door to the original party.... This guy had an interesting setup.... this was a laptop with an effects projector attached. The gear is chest mounted, so he has the screen below eye level and he can focus the beam of the projector more succinctly. His entire M.O. was walking around, finding interesting nooks and crannies at the artist loft/warehouse structure we were stationed at, and adding a bit of technology and color to those nooks and crannies. Unfortunately, by the time he broke this harness out and got strapped it on, only small pockets of people remained....
Wish I could have spoken with him, but he was rather engrossed in his equipment.
