SPRING OFFICIALLY ARRIVES
So, the calendars say that spring arrives on March 20th, but as we approached that day, the general 'feel' in Los Angeles about the season change was blasé at best. The weather change was sluggish, as temperatures were climbing, but still not spring-like; the plants had no blooms or smells; birds were nowhere to be found; and the people were staying indoors and dressing like it was still winter. What to do, what to do?
Enter: alterEgo. He pondered this dilemma and concluded that something had to be done. But what could he do? How could he help the residents of this fair city? He felt the people of L.A. needed a symbolic event to mark the transition to the new season. And what could be more representative of spring than a pool party? How about a pool party at the uber-cool, uber-sexy, super Sunday spot that has been THE place to be on Sundays for the last 2 years: that's right, the Downtown Standard Rooftop? So alterEgo said, let's have a party at the Standard downtown to kick off spring!
And, as we all know, thus saith alterEgo, so it shall be:
As par the course for his events, he placed some amazing talent behind the decks for all to enjoy. Headlining was Desyn Masiello, blasting his artistic wizardry to the hottest crowd in town. He was joined by the very versatile Jimmy Maheras and the phunky, peppy Dory to set the vibe. (Now how's that for kicking off your spring time events?). And blast artistic wizardry they did! The show was stellar, and sexy, and umm-umm, umm delicious! If you were not one of the select few who joined us for this special event, make sure to get out to the next one; and you better get there early. ~
Officially, Sunday was only the soft opening of the downtown Standard rooftop pool party season. The official opening is not until Sunday, April 4th, when Charlie May graces the decks. He will be launching the Grand Opening of Egotistic, which is not to be missed on the first Sunday of every month atop the Standard downtown.
Only someone with the all-knowing, all-glowing power of alterEgo could have pulled something like this off, Desyn Masiello, as a gift to the people of Los Angeles, to help 'spring in' the spring. When you see him next, make sure to thank the altered one, as he has once again saved the day. But, don't be surprised if he shrugs it off like it was no big deal. He's known for booking big name acts, coupling them with the best in local talent, and placing them in the hottest spots in town.
So now in Los Angeles, the fauna is blooming and exuding pleasant aromas; the birds have appeared, chirping happily; and the residents have started to show themselves outdoors again, dressing in ways that expose how sexy L.A. really is. Spring is officially under way. Don't forget your sun screen.
