Wow!,
Oww!, and KaPow!....
the 2010 birthday edition of
Kickin' it with Kung Fu Kev
is blastin' through your ster-e-er-eo, and/or your web browser.
Wow! This week rocked with several nights of great music, friends, and dancing:The Week That Was
Miguel Migs at Ecco
This was my first M. M. show and he definitely lived up to the hype! His music created an energy in the club that was organic, deep, and soulful. The air had a certain San Francisco feel, as the vibe flowing from speaker to speaker and person to person cut like the cold breeze off the bay. Simply put, the vibe penetrated your soul. (Even if it wasn't your birthday!) Ecco was a bit crowded, but not too intimate; and somehow the location made everything work out just right.
I want to say,Thank You!, to all my friends who showed up, despite facing many challenges: school, routine, work, wife, time, exhaustion....etc. Congratulations goes to Chris, who wins the award for this year's best birthday card: Simply Hilarious!!! Special thanks to the E.C. Twins for blessing my group's entry. These guys are great DJ's behind the decks and great people in real life!

After Party at My Place
I'm still not sure where everyone came from.... but I met some crazy, interesting people and had a blast; all from the comfort of my living room. You guys all rock! And don't worry, the dogs were finally fed after all.....
Update: the camera has been found! And no, we're not posting any photos from that night!
alterEgo Events presents I Want My House Music:
Fischerspooner
(I missed this event, but heard great things about it....)
DJ Ash Barnes' Birthday at Villa Lounge
photos of Ash by KFK |
Thursday was Villa Lounge to show love, respect, and support to our friend DJ Ash Barnes, on his birthday (days after mine). I totally missed Fischerspooner, arriving at the lounge early enough to take in Ash's birthday selections. I definitely made the right choice, as evidenced by many signals provided by the universe. BTW he's done some amazing work designing, building, and maintaining web site artistry for his diverse list of clients. This link showcases some of his skills in web and graphic design. Ash threw down a birthday set, warming up the sound system while I got to warming up the dance floor. He was followed by one hell of a rebel-rousing set (by whom, I do not know (if you know, please forward me the info!)). The tracks just did not, would not, could not stop; even as the DJ ignored the bouncer's call to shut it down. By the end of the night, everybody was jumping around in chaotic pleasure, as I danced so hard I actually wanted him to wrap it up, so I could rest!!!
Happy Birthday Ash!
(BTW, great time of the year to be born, if I do say!)
alterEgo Events' Egotistic Pool Party:
Mark Bell at the Standard
This spot is starting to find its groove. The weather is finally cooperating and the upcoming forecast is filled with hot, hot days and nights at the downtown Standard rooftop on Sundays. This was the icing on the cake for my week. Sorry Jen, Rob, and friends (my fellow ex-FL residents), I got caught up on the dance floor early and danced the rest of the day away instead of returning to complete the conversations we started. (Rob, please contact me to continue...) The afternoon's barometer proved it to be sunny, with a slight chance of shade, but that didn't stop some stars from shining through... For instance, the famed director Quentin Tarantino and fabled rapper from the WuTang Clan, the RZA, were seen among friends in the crowd. Gentlemen, if you need me for any future projects, either for writing, rapping, or kung fu dancing, I'm booked through the month of May, but June starts to open up for me....
Oww!Quick Shots:
~Lance: you da man.
~Charles Sly Like a Fox- looking forward to the dvd! Thanks.
~it takes 3 signatures to make it an official document!
~I danced at least 20hrs this week and my entire body is sore.... Oww!

KaPow!That's it for now, and thank goodness my birthday week is over. You know, it's not like the old days, where I had plenty of time to waste and birthday celebrations could last up to one month.*
*Well, technically, a month of birthday bashing lasts even longer than that. Here's the real breakdown:
time spent celebrating: 4 weeks
time spent recovering: 2 weeks
total time for b-day: 6 weeks
forgotten memories: priceless
