What's New These Days....

What is L.A. to you?

To me, she is great and twisted; showing me horrors that I long after while alluding a life of the walking dead...

I am glad to report, I severed some of the tentacles that had hold of me since I left.
.That took way too long.

Botox: Not Just Used to Make Girlfriends Look Younger

Wow, who would've thunk it? Botox has been approved by the FDA for treatment of migraines. If you have this terrible affliction, you should be aware of the new treatment on the block: Botox.

I guess it makes sense that the pressure I feel during a migraine could be alleviated by something like this. I experience cluster migraines, which means I am fine most of the time, but for 2-6 weeks every year or two, I experience a high number of migraines. The experience is like having a constant headache for 2-6 weeks that can flair up to a full-blown migraine at any time.

Kung Fu Kev's Health Tip of the Day

If you scroll to the bottom of this page (Living in L.A. home page), you will see, 'Today's Health Tip'. Yes, this section is updated daily by an outside source. One of the tips recently struck a chord with me:
While watching Television, do push-ups, sit-ups or other exercises during commercial breaks. Stretch during the show!
I know what most of you are thinking, that you would look crazy and there's no way you would do this.... but, it makes the most of your boob tube time, helps you to avoid stiffening up, and improves your overall well being/quality of health.

There was a time in my life that I did this religiously; I utilized all my TV time for stretching. Yes, I was that guy! But it helped me to attain the greatest level of flexibility I ever experienced. It's Worth Considering!

Improve Your Breathing (Wellness)

You will find this link again on this site's health/wellness page, where it furthers my discussion on breathing and meditation. The link leads to the Positivity Blog and one of their articles: Here is a Quick Way to Better Breathing.

As breathing is key to life, it makes sense that maximizing your body's ability to breath effectively will help maximize your life force, your vitality, your chi.

Injured Doesn't Suck, Either

For today's thought:
I liken getting sick for the average person to being injured for the martial artist.....

In a recent post, I mentioned that being sick should not always have such a negative connotation attached to the experience (Sick Doesn't Suck). In fact, I see it as the body's way of telling you something. 'Slow down', 'rest more', 'eat less', and 'take better care of yourself and/or your environment'; these are some of the most common messages the human body tries to convey to our decision making centers; the human brain.

Sick Doesn't Suck

Just recently, one of my students emailed me that he couldn't make it to meet me somewhere, as he was too sick. He followed that up with, "Sick Sucks!".

I saw that as an opportunity to portray the term 'sick' a bit differently.
Here was my response:
